Glencore will relocate from July 1 its Savannah, Georgia, bunker operations to the newly refurbished Epic Midstream Savannah North terminal, a few miles upriver from the Colonial terminal where it has been a tenant since 2013, sources have said.
Glencore is already active at the Epic facility but will not officially announce the move until next month, a Glencore source with knowledge of operations said.
“We’re moving to another terminal down there at the end of the month,” the source said. “This is at a third-party terminal — but the terminal is being built/modified for us.”
The Epic Savannah North terminal has a total storage capacity of 1.13 million barrels in 19 tanks and also has vessel and barge loading as well as blending services. No representative at Epic was available for comment.
“We bought [Colonial’s] bunker business five years ago and are currently a tenant at their terminal,” the source added. “We just rent tanks at their terminal in Savannah like a lot of other companies do.”
Sources at Colonial close to the deal confirmed that Glencore will be moving on July 1.
A Glencore spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
