Supplies of bunker fuel at Istanbul were tightening Thursday as bad weather in the Bosporus and Black Sea continued.
“Suppliers are not yet getting [enough] material,” a trader said. “It is a bit more congested because most new product comes from the Black Sea.”
Bad weather in the Black Sea has worsened, with a trader at the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiisk saying a gale warning was in place there. The warning was declared early Thursday morning.
Some suppliers have reported tight availability at Istanbul all week.
All operations at sea have been suspended due to a strong southwest wind and delays are possible until around November 10, a supplier said Monday.
This has been constraining barging activity, another supplier said.
The Istanbul and Novorossiisk port authorities could not be reached for comment
