Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) participates in the Offshore Korea Technical Conference 2016 held on 19 – 21 October, 2016 in Busan (the Republic of Korea).
Today, South Korea is the world’s leader in shipbuilding industry, particularly in the construction of sophisticated large-capacity ships for hydrocarbon transportation, including those intended for operation in severe ice conditions of the Arctic shelf. RS successfully participates in the implementation of innovative projects at the leading Korean shipyards due to the qualifications in survey during construction and operation of ice class ships.
At the exhibition, RS introduces the full range of services rendered for the offshore and maritime industries − survey during design, construction and operation of offshore field development facilities and ships intended for oil and gas production, manufacture of materials and equipment for marine operations as well as certification of products and management systems for compliance with various international standards.
RS has been developing its activities in Korea since 1996, when the first RS Branch Office focusing mainly on the maintenance of ships in service was opened. Since 2005 the Russian classification society has been actively involved in shipbuilding projects at the largest Korean shipyards, where a number of items were constructed under the RS survey ranging from the Arctic shuttle tankers to modern MODU/FOP. Today, the series of the Arctic shuttle tankers and the large series of the Arctic gas carriers with the unique technical characteristics are under construction.
