Japan’s Hokkaido Gas signs 10-year contract to buy LNG from Mitsui

Japanese utility Hokkaido Gas said Friday it has signed a 10-year agreement with trading firm Mitsui & Co. to buy 130,000-200,000 mt/year, or two to three cargoes a year, of LNG from Mitsui’s portfolio.
The contract will start in fiscal year 2019-2020 (April-March) and the cargoes will be delivered ex-ship to its Ishikari LNG terminal in Hokkaido, the company said.
The LNG terminal has an 180,000 cu m LNG tank and a new 200,000 cu m LNG tank that began operations on September 17.
Hokkaido Gas has a contract to buy 300,000-400,000 mt/year of LNG from Tokyo Gas for 11 years from fiscal 2012-13 (April-March).
